Agueda is a Portuguese and Spanish variant of Agatha. Agatha originates in Greek language and means "good-hearted". It was the name of a 3rd century Christian martyr, Saint Agatha of Sicily. It was popularized by the famous author of detective stories and novels Agatha Christie.
