Audie is a diminutive of Audrey. Audrey originates in Old English language and means "of noble strength". The name is very popular in the United States and outside them, mainly in Canada and France. Audrey was a 6th century Anglo-Saxon saint, the Abbess of Ely. More recently, the name was popularized by the famous British actress Audrey Hepburn.
