Covington

Covington is a compound of three different Old English words. The first is “Cofa” which was an Old English given name, the second is “ing” which meant “people of” and the last is “tun” which meant a 'settlement or enclosure'. The name thereby became a locational name to imply that the bearer was from the settlement of Cofa's people.
