Doris
Doris originates in Greek language and it is taken from the place name in Central Greece where the Dorian people lived. The Dorians were an ethnic group in Ancient Greece. In Greek mythology, Doris was also an Oceanid, one of the sea nymphs. As a feminine given name it has always been fairly popular, the famous bearer being the American actress and singer Doris Day.
