Elliott is a variant of Elias, ultimately derived from Elijah. Elijah originates in Hebrew language and means "Yahweh is my God". According to the Books of Kings, Elijah was a prophet in Israel in 9th century BC. As a masculine given name it has been used over centuries, but recently its popularity in the United States has risen considerably.
