Firenze is the original Italian name of Florence. Florence originates in Latin language and means "thriving". It is taken from the name of the capital city of Tuscany, Italy. The famous bearer was Florence Nightingale, a British nurse in the Crimean War. In the United States, the usage of Florence has been declining.
