Fritz

Fritz is a diminutive of Friedrich, itself a German variant of Frederick. Frederick originates in Germanic languages and means "calm monarch". In the United States, it was most popular at the beginning of the 20th century, since then its usage has declined. It used to be a favorite name in European royal circles, more recently the famous bearers include Frederick Forsyth, a British novelist.
