Gilligan

Gilligan is a modern form of the Gaelic name 'MacGilligan', derived from the Old Gaelic 'MacGiollagain', which literally means 'son of the chief's attendant'. The 'giolla' means 'a very close follower' and therefore implies a page or the attendant to a knight.
