Hennie is a diminutive of Hendrik, or Henrika. Henrika is a Scandinavian diminutive of Henrietta, ultimately derived from Henry. Henrietta originates in Germanic languages and means "ruler of the house". It is a feminine form of Henry. Henrietta has been a popular name within royalty over centuries but lately its usage, especially in the United States, has declined.
