Kostya is a diminutive of Konstantin, itself a Russian form of Constantine. Constantine is an English name and is the male version of the Latin name “constantia” which meant constant. Although in its original form it was spelt “Custance”, it later altered to the male form “Constantine” and the female form “Constance”.
