Krista is a Finnish diminutive of Christina. Christina originates in Latin language and means "Christian woman". It is a feminine form of Christian, ultimately derived from Greek. In Christian tradition, there are several saints of this name. It has also been a popular name within royalty over centuries. More recently, it was popularized by the American artist Christina Aguilera.
