Lorena is an Italian, Spanish and Portuguese variant of Lorraine. Lorraine originates in French language and means "woman from Lorraine". Lorraine is a region in northern France. In the English-speaking countries it has been used since the 19th century and was once fairly popular in the United States. Lately its usage has declined.
