Matrona originates in Latin and means "lady-like". It is a popular feminine given name in Russian countries, in the United States it is very rare. Matrona of Barcelona was a 3rd century Roman Catholic saint. Matrona of Chios was another saint born in the 15th century and venerated by the Orthodox Church.
