Montezuma is another version of the name Moctezuma. Moctezuma originates in Native American languages and its meaning is unclear. This was the name of the Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire, in the 14th and 15th century. As a masculine given name, Montezuma is very rare in the United States these days.
