Norma

Most likely, Norma is a feminine form of the Germanic name Norman, which means "from the North". Alternatively, it might have been created for the opera of the same name, Norma, by Vincenzo Bellini in 1203. In that case it was probably derived from the Latin norma, meaning "standard".
