Sequoia

Sequoia originates in Native American language of the Cherokees and is taken from the name of coniferous trees known as redwoods, which grow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. It is believed that Sequoia tree got its name after George Gist, called Sequoyah, a Cherokee silversmith and creator of the Cherokee alphabet.
