Simone originates in Hebrew language and means "one who has heard". It is a feminine form of Simon, this spelling being used mostly in French, it is also a variant of Jimena in Spanish. In France it was very popular at the beginning of the 20th century. It was popularized by the French feminist Simone de Beauvoir.
