Both the origin and the meaning of the name Verona are unclear. Verona is a city in Veneto in northern Italy. This is where William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet takes place and one of his comedies is called The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Some sources suggest that the name could be derived from the Latin vera which means "truth".
